And We Need Your Support

Compassion. Empathy. Service: UHI Clinic.

We are in unpredictable times. Many people are feeling helpless, isolated, and anxious. At the same time, so many are reaching out asking,

“How can I help?”

What We Do

At UHI Clinic we are continuing to do, as we have done for the past 12 years: serving the uninsured population with free, quality, primary health care. Here is some of the highlights of our past year.

  • In 2019, we saw close to 6,000 patients.
  • Provided appointments in primary care, psychiatry, podiatry, ENT, and gynecology by our over 40 volunteer physicians.
  • Free optometry appointments and glasses.
  • Public health fairs for health screening in glucose, hypertension, and physician consult.
  • Teaching facility to third and fourth year FIU Medical Students.
  • Teaching facility to FIU Nurse Practitioners.
  • Observational rotations open to community college students.
  • Research studies in partnership with FIU.

Where We Are Today

Out of the highest concern for our providers, staff and patients, in March we temporarily closed the clinic to public traffic. We took a quick pivot, and never stopped treating our patients. We now provide same day, telemedicine appointments for our patients.

Our patients' needs far exceed COVID-19. Hypertension, diabetes, obesity, mental health, and cardiac disease are just a few of the chronic issues we treat in our uninsured patients. (Patient outcomes in COVID-19 are directly tied to these underlying conditions.)

We are currently in the process of procuring personal protection equipment (PPE) so we are able to open soon.

The Need

We have a $200K shortfall our operations. We count on generous donors, like yourself, to help us close this gap. Be assured that every donation works toward uplifting the health outcomes of our under-served population.

UHI Clinic hopes you are safe and healthy. Thank you for your support!

P.S. UHI Clinic wants to encourage all of you to fill out Census 2020. It is directly tied to the funding of government services in your local community!
